TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I am an aspiring FACS teacher. I have always been really interested in family and consumer sciences and my favorite classes in high school and junior high were always these classes. In 2009 I received a bachelor's degree in Family, Consumer and Human Development and worked in the field at a residential treatment center for a couple years. I soon realized that I didn't enjoy what I was doing and that I still wanted to be a teacher and teach what I had learned about in my first bachelor's degree. Not only do I enjoy the content area of FACS but I have always been interested in working with youth. I think that teachers can have a really big impact on their students and I honestly want to have the opportunity to change a students life for the better or at least make them think about life differently than they did before. I plan to begin my student teaching in the Spring of 2015 and I hope to receive a job wherever I do my student teaching.
